Spinosaurus and Polycotylidae

Diorama showing the big predatory dinosaur Spinosaurus aegyptiacus and its prey, a plesiosaur of the family Polycotylidae. Bahariya Formation of the Cretaceous Africa.

The plesiosaur appears already hurt, as was already caught by the theropod, but is now free for an instant in the water, probably due thrashing in the Spinosaurus mouth. Now, it tries to flee and to intimidate its attacker by showing its open mouth, but likely in vain.

Cold porcelain, 1/30 scale.
